One reason menopause remains so under-studied: most health researchers simply don’t ask about it. Heart health, dementia, nutrition, metabolic health, longevity, and drug trials all regularly include midlife women — whether or not they’re framed as “menopause studies” — and menopause could be a meaningful variable in nearly all of them. But if we don’t ask the question, we never generate the knowledge.
Women’s health is human health. The fix starts with something small: asking the question in studies that are already happening.
